The Can Man : Flashback

2nd May
7pm – We get our Genre- Detective/Cop.
7:15pm – We are trying to crack a story even before the Line/Prop/Characters are announced.
7:30pm – We have our scratch concept ready..
7:45pm – Team Limboo Mirchi is getting prepared with the basic idea.
9:30pm – We are trying to crack our story in a way, where we can use all resources available in the best possible way…
3rd May
00:00 hrs – Light Dinner at Alok’s place.
00:45 am – Brainstorming is on & some of our team members drop in & we give our first narration.
4:30 am – We have our first draft ready…& yeah our story has a role for the Prop & we are using both the Characters Savitri & Suraj in our film but………….. there is a twist in the tale..
Girija is supposed to reach Location one at 5:30am. We can’t afford to miss Sunrise.
But she wasn’t feeling well last evening…will she be able to be on time. We will need a photographer & two three people to play Cops registering details from the Murder Site… Aditya is ready to play the LAASH (though it sounded like the most easiest role but turned out to be the most difficult one as he had to lay down in sunlight for more than three hours…)
Okay lets call Priyam a friend who is a Pro Photographer, Alok’s Dad will play the Forensic Expert, Baaki Ka dekh Lenge..
5:30am – Saumin Patel is ready, Alok is just getting ready & Girija calls up… “Where are you guys???I have reached…”
OOPS!!!! Just Reaching….
5:35am - Priyam Calls “I Have Reached..Tum Log Kidhar Hai??”
Double OOPS…Bus We are There…
5:50 am – We are ‘Sach Mein’ there..
6:00 am – Camera set up comes…
Ohh Sunrise…we gonna miss it…there is a tall building between us & Mr. Sun, we can’t shoot Sunrise.
6:15 am - The ‘Laash’ Aditya Sharma is ready for his debut. Make up done, we place him, mobile, can, Nimboo-Mirchi properly..
6:30 am - CAMERA ROLLING- ACTION
7:45 am – We are shooting, Aditya is lying there as he was more than an hour back.
8:15 am – We start shooting with Girija. Aditya is still there, we cant afford to ask him to sit…Continuity Mein Problem Nahi Chahiye Humko..
9:30 am – Shooting with News Reader Girija is over, but we have a scene that we need to shoot downstairs, showing Girija at her place.
Aditya The Deadman is still lying there… & its getting hotter now…
10:00 am – We shoot some style shots with Forensic Expert & Aditya…& Aditya is free..
Who says playing a dead body is an easy task…Huh
10:30 am – We rush for Location 2
10:45 am – Shoot starts with Andy who not only owns the flat but also plays Inspector Jaaved.
11:00 am – Aman & Shweta are here, Saumin is going to shoot with them, while I’ll be shooting Jaaved Saab.
11:35 am – I realize there is some problem with the Audio Quality, we work on Audio.
12:15 pm – Saumin is back & we plan to shoot another stop motion with Saumin & Shweta, our audio is Okay now (How okay we’ll get to know sooner).
Shooting resumes.
1:30 pm – Jaaved Saab’s full shoot is done, we just have to shoot him in his bedroom now.
2:00 pm – Lunch Break!!
2:30 pm – Jaaved (Andy’s) shoot gets over & Disaster hits us…
Alok Sharma is going to play Detective Vijay…
2:45 pm – Struggle
3:30 pm – More Struggle
4:00 pm – Maha Struggle
But we hope we’ve got some shots.
4:15 pm – Investigation Scene, with Andy & Saumin..Take One
6:16 pm – Nth take… we’ve got lots of footage, we guess.
6:20 pm – Alok strikes back… this time the shots are comparatively Okay..
6:45 pm – Aditya heads for Editing Studio with all our hopes.
It’s gonna take almost 3 hours to grab the footage –
7:00 pm – Are All Documents Duly Signed & in place…YUP!!! Thanks to Soniya & Shruti!!
PACKUPPPPP!!!
7:20 pm – Some snacks before we hit Post Production.
7:45 pm – Shall We Sleep, Shall we Rest
8:20 pm - NO!!! We Can’t afford to…
9:30 pm - DINNER
9:45 pm - “GRAB SOME SLEEP”
Alok shuts himself down...Saumin starts working on the graphics..
MEANWHILE
Tapes are getting Grabbed at the Editing Studio.
4th May
00:30 am – Call from Editing Studio, Tapes are grabbed, we can start editing
Whole Night
Stitching the pieces together to make a rough cut ready.
Every hour we thought just 2 hours more & we’ll be home, but……
The whole night passed, the Film we have achieved isn’t 50% of what we had in our minds.
10:45 am – We start adding Graphics…Why not add Gunshot SFX in BG…Good Idea…Lets Do this…
11:00 am – Chirag The Editor Smiles… Film isn’t looking that Bad now!!! For the first time he sees what we had in our heads even before we started shooting.
12:00 pm – We have a rough Video ready for our Sound Engineer Dhirendra.
Next Two Hours
Too much of running around, Dhirendra’s PC doesn’t support the format Chirag has provided.
We don’t have much time…
Running..Running…& Some More Running…
From Editing Studio To Sound Studio…
Finally We have a rough cut music ready, but PC refuses to work…
Tic Toc Tic Toc & It’s 3:45 pm.
3:45 pm – Panic!!! Boss Apne Paas Zyada Time Nahin Hai Ab…..
4:20 pm – We take the Music pieces to slap them on video at the Editing Studio…
5:00 pm – Sound Engineer & Editor work in Harmony…
6:15 pm – Our film is ready….well…almost…
6:30 pm – Some more touch ups later, we have a first cut on DV. Can’t afford to miss the DEADLINE…
6:45 pm – Run Alok Run
6:55 pm – Traffic at Juhu…
7:00 pm – Film is submitted…
THANK GOD!!!
The 48 Hour Long Picnic is over, we can Sleep tonight!!!
